Billions of years ago, Earth's atmosphere lacked free oxygen.

Scientists call this a highly toxic atmosphere.

<h3>What kind of atmosphere was present on Earth in early times?</h3>

In the atmosphere of the primitive Earth there was no oxygen (O2) and nitrogen (N2), the air being composed of gases such as

  • methane (CH4)
  • ammonia (NH3)
  • hydrogen (H2)
  • and water vapors (H2O).

With this information, we can conclude that Early Earth's atmosphere may have been as toxic as that of Venus today. Earth is the only planet that harbors life (as far as we know)

The type of atmosphere present on the early ages of the Earth was, basically, made of gases expelled from vulcanoes.

<h3>What is atmosphere?</h3>

Atmosphere is the layer of air that surrounds our planet. Other planets in the solar system also have an atmosphere. The gases that make up the atmosphere are held around the Earth by the pull of gravity and follow its motion.

In the primitive atmosphere, there was no presence of gases such as oxygen. The abundant gases were methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and even gases composed of poisonous substances. It had high temperatures and had the Sun as the main source of energy.

Describe the function and main structures of the nervous system. Describe the state of a resting neuron, including the charges i
Ulleksa [173]

Answer:

The function of the central nervous system is to control all function of the body and mind and to integrate all sensory information received and and respond accordingly.

The central nervous system is made up of the brain and the spinal cord and its neurons.

The resting state of a neuron is  -70 mV (mV=millivolt) - which means that the inside of the neuron is 70 mV less than the outside of the neuron, therefore, at rest, there are relatively more sodium ions outside the neuron (which are negatively charged) and more potassium ions inside that neuron (Positive charge)
