The earliest religion of the Chinese people seems to have been based on the recognition that the universe was controlled by many gods and spirits.

China is a country with a wide variety of religious beliefs. The main religions are Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Protestantism. Citizens of China are free to choose and express their religious beliefs and clarify their religious affiliation.

Freedom House, a research and advocacy group, found in 2017 that there are over 350 million religious followers in China, mostly made up of Chinese Buddhists, along with Protestants, Muslims, Falun Gong practitioners, and Catholics. Tibetan Buddhists presumably follow.

Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism are regarded as the "three pillars" of ancient Chinese society

And Abraham Lincoln himself, the people in the south didn't like that he wanted to end slavery. So there was a war brewing between the north, and the south.
