A Descriptive norm describes what is commonly done in a situation, whereas an injunctive norm describes what is commonly approved or disapproved in a situation.

Descriptive norms are what most people in a group think, feel, or do. A normative or tentative norm is one that is approved by most people in the group. Here we make a distinction between what applies to group members and what applies to group members. Often, these two types of norms overlap.

Descriptive norms are perceptions of how people actually behave. For example, when asking a teenager how his parents behave with respect to alcohol, the descriptive norm may be "my parents don't drink much." In this case, the teenager explains how they think their parents actually behave.

krok68 [10]

Answer:

You could explain this using the B. Mean world syndrome.

Explanation:

The Mean world syndrome is an <em>error in thought</em> in which an individual thinks  <em>the world is a much more dangerous place than it actually</em> is because he/she has been long exposed to mass media.

In this case, we can see Martha watches <em>"quite a bit"</em> of television and mostly crime dramas. This long exposure has made her develop this syndrome and thus she believes that her city has a higher crime rate than it does.

A 14 year old sees a neighbor has left her keys in her car. The teenager takes the car for a drive and wrecks it. Is the teenage
Luda [366]

Well let's start with theft. Just because the keys are there doesn't mean that's an open invitation to take something.

Then there's the business of driving

  • without a licence
  • with no insurance
  • with no name on the registration.

What do you think? Does that go beyond unruly or mischievous? And these are just general considerations. Wait till insurance gets into it. In come cases they may not pay. So now what?

Four general counts and more to come from the lawyers who deal with this sort of thing all the time. I would say that 14 year old better start worrying a bit.

In seventeenth-century England, working for wages was widely associated with servility and loss of liberty. Only those who controlled their own labor could be regarded as truly free. Based on this understanding, the type of worker that would claim the most personal liberty and freedom were farmers.

During the 17th century in England, farmers could say that they were the ones with more personal freedom. However, the falling prices of wool and grains affected farmers du to the agricultural depression of that time. Grain fell by 12% while wool fell by 30%.
