The statement that best reflects Millay's attitude toward the seasons is "Millay finds beauty in the autumn world but resents the rebirth of spring because she sees death and sorrow everywhere."

What is the first poem about?

In the first poem, the author reflects about the beauty and majestuosity of nature and the world that surrounds her. This can be seen in ideas such as "World, World, I cannot get thee close enough".

Moreover, she refers to a autumn season including its striking colors.

What is the second poem about?

In this poem the author reflects about spring. About this season she shows a negative attitude as she relates this season to death. This is explained in "Not only underground are the brains of men Eaten by maggots."

This shows the author loves autumn but resents spring.

Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

Ego-centrism.

Explanation:

Adolescent egocentrism is the stage in which adolescent think they everyone around them is concerned about them only and that the "world revolves around them".

This theory of child development was developed by David Elkind. According to this theory, adolescents usually believe that they are important and that everyone just notices them only.

In the given case, Paris's behavior is an example of Adolescent egocentrism. Because she chose her outfit by having thoughts in mind that her outfit will be liked by others. This means that everyone else will just notice her and her outfit.

So, the correct answer is "adolescent egocentrism".

Which best states how the author develops the character in this excerpt?
vova2212 [387]

I have found this question online, and it is about the short story "The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County," by Mark Twain. The excerpt is long for me to post here, but it begins with the story told by Simon Wheeler, one of the characters.

Answer:

The option that best states how the author develops the character in this excerpt is:

A. with the use of dialect.

Explanation:

When it comes to literature, dialect is related to how the author portrays the characters' speech. Many authors choose to write words with an uncommon spelling just to show that that is the way the character pronounces them. For instance, in books by Zora Neale Hurston, what should be "I" was spelled as "Ah" to emphasize pronunciation.

The same happens in this short story by Mark Twain. The excerpt we are analyzing here uses dialect to reveal more about the character. For example, Wheeler says "feller" instead of "fellow". Twain wants readers to know that Wheeler is a simple man, in contrast with the narrator of the story who is an educated man and who uses a very different (formal) dialect from Wheeler.

How I spent my last holiday 250 words
kolezko [41]

Answer:

We all wait every your for the final exams to begin and end quickly as that means the beginning of the long and most awaited summer holidays.

I too eagerly wait for the summer break to begin. Actually, long before they commence, each year, I draw out a detailed plan about how I will spend my summer vacation. Last year too, I was eagerly awaiting the holidays. More because I being in the Tenth standard had worked hard all the year round. And so I wanted to make the best of the forthcoming vacation. The last two exams seemed to linger. Yet, I tried hard to focus on the exam and not think about the holidays that were round the corner.

And finally the day came when I have to appear for my last board paper. The paper went very well and I could hardly wait to rush out of the examination hall and shout in joy. I went running as soon as the bell rung to my best friend who was in the other hall.

We were so excited and happy. After a whole year of hand work and persistent toil we will be enjoying and relaxing. It was a holiday well-earned and our joy knew no bounds.
