"Not all the Americans welcomed the inmigrants with open arms."

Explanation:

This statement marks how the inmigrants situation in the end of  the 1800 and 1900 was hard, because some Americans would not agree on the presence of them in the country. In the matter of labor, the factories would take advantage of the cheap labor if they hire inmigrants , they would misstreat and segregate them.

The differences in religious  and racial believes weren't tolerated, so laws to avoid inmigration movements were created. To avoid inmigrants to enter the country, they would take literacy tests, asian people were not admitted at all in the country (1882) by a law that passed in the Congress calles "The Chinesse exclusion act". Even though all this happended, the rush of inmigrants happened anyways.
