Characterization of the leptospiral outer membrane and description of three novel leptospiral membrane proteins

Biology

It has been challenging to develop methods for outer-membrane(OM) isolation from Leptospira species and other spirochetes due to their distinctive design and a lack of sensitive cytoplasmic membrane indicators.

Spirochetes have an OM and a cytoplasmic membrane, which are divided by a periplasmic space, just like enteric gram-negative bacteria.The leptospiral OM contains a significant amount of LPS, and the leptospiral surface is dominated by its polysaccharides.

LipL32, LipL36, and LipL41 are three lipoproteins from the leptospiral OM.

Since LipL32 is an immunodominant antigen during human leptospirosis, it is recognized to be the most prominent protein in the leptospiral protein profile. OmpL1 and LipL41 together offer synergistic immunoprotection. LipL41 is a surface-exposed lipoprotein.

Which of the following best describes the solar radiation absorbed by and radiated from earth?
vovangra [49]

Answer: c. The Earth’s surface is responsible for a small fraction of heat radiation to space.

Explanation:

In later ages the large amount of sun's energy is reflected back by the terrestrial surface back to the space. But now due to the abundance of large concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is responsible for the absorption of thermal energy from sunlight by these gases causing the atmosphere to be hot. This is the reason of global warming. Now only small fraction of heat is radiated back to the space.

Which element would you expect to have a full valence shell?
kipiarov [429]

Answer;

-Noble gases or Group 18 elements

Explanation;

A full valence shell is the most stable electron configuration. Group 18 elements or noble gases such as helium, neon, and argon, have a full outer, or valence, shell. Elements in other groups have partially-filled valence shells and gain or lose electrons to achieve a stable electron configuration.

They are extremely unreactive and do not form bonds with themselves. Solid helium is the the ultimate fine powder being monotomic.
