Bacteria that release a toxin that forms a pore in red blood cells leading to hemolysis are using an alpha toxin to gain access to the nutrients inside the erythrocyte.

The best characterized and most potent membrane-damaging toxin of <em>Staphylococcus</em> <em>aureus</em> is α-toxin. It is expressed as a monomer that binds to the membrane of susceptible cells.

In humans, platelets and monocytes are specifically sensitive to α-toxin. They bear high affinity sites which allow the toxin to bind at concentrations that are physiologically relevant. A complex series of secondary reactions follow, leading to the release of eicosanoids and cytokines which in turn trigger the production of inflammatory mediators. These events cause the symptoms of septic shock that occur during severe infections caused by <em>S. aureus</em>.

Alex_Xolod [135]

Explanation:

The symbiotic relationship between orchids and trees is called commensalism, which means the orchid and tree host depend on eachother to survive.. The orchid provides the tree with sunlight, (nutrients created by sun- exposure).

How do you believe that economics (money) and our environment are connected.
eduard

Answer:

Explanation:

Economics our environment are connected in an ongoing cycle we have created. Economics have a special influence on the environment because of the way we have set up our social system. There are many good affects of this cycle, such as people reserving land for endangered species. However, there are also bad affects, such as people monopolizing land just for themselves.

Which one of the following statements about RNA processing is correct? (A) Exons are cut out before mRNA leaves the nucleus. (B)
Ghella [55]

The correct statement is that the ribozymes may function in RNA splicing.

Non-proteinaceous RNA enzymes are known as ribozymes. They function as molecules that catalyze reactions in which RNA is the catalyst. Within the nucleic acid molecules, these molecules have the capacity to both break and create covalent bonds. RNA splicing may be facilitated by ribozymes. Despite having a small chemical repertoire, they have a wide range of biological functions and are essential for the three kingdoms of life. They are involved in the maturation of transfer RNA, intron splicing, the replication of RNA viruses or viroids, the control of messenger RNA stability, and protein synthesis.
