A line passes through the points (0,2.5) and (4, 2.5)
The slope of a line is m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1 )
 For the given line, x1=0, y1=2.5, x2=4, y2=2.5
 Substituting the values in the formula,
 m=(2.5-2.5)/(4-0)
 m=0/4
 m=0
 Another line passes through (3,-1).
 The line passes through (3,-1) is parallel to the line that passes through
(0,2.5) and (4,2.5).
 Therefore the slopes of these two lines are equal.
 m=0 and the line passes through (3,-1)
 The formula is y-y1=m(x-x1)
 X1=3 and y1=-1 m=0
 Substituting these values in the formula,
 y+1= 0(x-3)
 y+1=0
 y=-1

The stopping distance d of an automobile is directly proportional to the square of its speed s. On one road, a car requires 75 f
Anton [14]

Answer:

The car requires 192 feet to stop from a speed of 48 miles per hour on the same road

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Direct proportion means that two quantities increase or decrease in the same ratio
  • If y is directly proportional to x (y ∝ x) , then \frac{y_{1}}{y_{2}}=\frac{x_{1}}{x_{2}}  <em>OR</em>  y = k x, where k is the constant of proportionality

∵ The stopping distance d of an automobile is directly

   proportional to the square of its speed s

- That means d ∝ s²

∴  \frac{d_{1}}{d_{2}}=\frac{(s_{1})^{2}}{(s_{2})^{2}}

∵ A car requires 75 feet to stop from a speed of 30 miles per hour

∴ d = 75 feet

∴ s = 30 miles/hour

- Change the mile to feet

∵ 1 mile = 5280 feet

∴ 30 miles/hour = 30 × 5280 = 158400 feet/hour

∵  The car require to stop from a speed of 48 miles per hour

    on the same road

- Change the mile to feet

∴ 48 miles/hour = 48 × 5280 = 253440 feet/hour

∵  \frac{d_{1}}{d_{2}}=\frac{(s_{1})^{2}}{(s_{2})^{2}}

- Substitute the values of d_{1} by 75 feet, s_{1} by 158400 feet/hour

   and s_{2} by 253440 feet/hour

∴ \frac{75}{d_{2}}=\frac{(158400)^{2}}{(253440)^{2}}

∴  \frac{75}{d_{2}}=\frac{25}{64}

- By using cross multiplication

∴ 25 × d_{2} = 75 × 64

- Divide both sides by 25

∴ d_{2}  = 192 feet

The car requires 192 feet to stop from a speed of 48 miles per hour on the same road

Write as a product of two polynomials:<br> (x-y)^2-a(y-x)
sattari [20]

Answer:

(x - y)(x - y + a)

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-y)^2-a(y-x) \\  \\  = (x-y)^2 + a(x - y) \\  \\ =  (x - y) \{(x - y) + a \} \\  \\ =  (x - y)(x - y + a)

-0.5(d - 1.5) = 2.5<br> What is d
yaroslaw [1]

Answer:A)0.5 We can see in the graph , that it is bell-shaped along x =2. A bell-shaped graph along one value is called symmetric graph and it represents a normal distribution.

Since, the give graph is symmetric around x=2, so the mean of the data is 2.

The point immediate left to the mean represents x-σ

so,

2 - σ = 1.5

So,

σ = 0.5

The sigma represents standard deviation.

Hence, Option A is correct ..

Step-by-step explanation:and what is on d is 2.5

What is 12.31 as a mixed fraction
VashaNatasha [74]
12 31/100 is the mixed fraction because in a decimal all the numbers to the left are whole numbers and all the numbers to the right are numbers that are part of a whole. Just like in a mixed fraction there is a whole number and a fraction in a mixed number. Since 12 is in the left it is the whole number and since 31 is to the right and in the place value 31 is ending in the hundredths place so that's why the fraction is, 31/100. That's how you came to know that 12 31/100 is the fraction for 12.31.
