Main theme of poem Digging :

The main themes of the poem "Digging" are the nobility of all work, and continuity with the past. The central metaphor in the poem is the comparison between the speaker's chosen work of writing and his ancestor's livelihood as potato farmers. The tone of the poem is one of reverence, reverence on the part of the speaker for the kind of work done by his father, and his father before him. The speaker says,

"By God, the old man could handle a spade. Just like his old man."

What does the title digging mean?

It was first published in his poetic collection- Death of a Naturalist in 1966. The poem is based upon a single but significant idea that digging has great value and need in life and everyone should admire the diggers for their skill, patience, and creative work and should also show them the respect they deserve.

Which responsibilities are typically handled by local governments, not by state governments
musickatia [10]

Answer:

As established by the U.S., Constitution, and given the division of government into federal, state and local levels, it has also been established that local governments, under the jurisdiction and observation of the state government, are responsible for certain acitivities such as plannification and payment of new roads, maintenance of old road systems within their jurisdiction, organizing and maintaining fire and police services, defining zoning plans and regulations and they can also regulate elections for their residents. These are all activities that become the responsibility of the two types of local governments: territorial, such as districts, and corporate governments, such as charters. This does not mean that local governments are totally independent entities; in fact, they very much depend on the state government, as a state government oversees the actions taken by local governments, and they may even go so far as to abolish a regulation, or an action taken by a local government if it goes against state law. The states may also abolish a local government and replace it, if this last one is not fulfilling its duties as established by state rules.

After dating for only 2 months, Joel and Natalie broke up. They were unhappy together because Joel had always wanted to run off
larisa [96]

Optimal level of arousal is the correct answer.

Each person has a different level of arousal and this level is perfect for them. In order to maintain this level, people will seek for activities that promote their own stimulation. In this case, Joel got his arousal elevated when he went out partying/clubbing, while Natalie was happier when she was able to stay home and read her mystery novels. Thus, their relationship was unlikely to succeed since their optimal arousal level was out of sync.
