The parent function is g(x)=√x, referred to as the square root function. The new graph of f(x) is obtained by dilating the parent function by a scale of two and shifting the graph left 6 and down 1.

HOW DO I FIND QR<br><br> PLEASE HELP
Paul [167]

Solution: For finding QR we need to apply Pythagoras Theorem

What is Pythagoras Theorem ?

ans : Pythagoras Theorem is the sum of square of two sides which is equal to the third side or the hypotenuse. This formula is valid oy incase of Right-Angled Traingle because one of three angles here is 90°

According to this law let's apply it in the diagram shown here.

  • (Hypotenuse)² = (Adjacent)² + (Opposite)²

  • (PR)² = (QR)² + (PQ)²

  • (5x - 2)² = (QR)² + (3x - 1)²

  • (QR)² = (5x - 2)² - (3x - 1)²

After factorising both of them we get

  • (QR)² = 25x² - 20x + 4 - (9x² - 6x + 1)

  • (QR)² = 25x² - 20x + 4 - 9x² + 6x - 1

  • (QR)² = 16x² - 14x + 3

  • QR = √(16x² - 14x + 3)

So, QR is √(16x² - 14x + 3)

A motorcycle can go 50 miles using one gallon of gas. About how many gallons of gas will be used to go 150 kilometers? (Hint: 1
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The answer to your question is 1.875 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

distance = 50 mi

volume of gas = 1 gal

volume for 150 km = ?

Process

1.- Convert 50 mi into kilometers

                         1 mile ------------------- 1.6 km

                          x        ------------------ 150 km

                          x = (150 x 1)/1.6

                          x = 93.75 mi

2.- Calculate the gallons wasted

                          1 gallon ----------------- 50 mi

                          x            ---------------- 93.75 mi

                          x = (93.75 x 1)/50

                          x = 93.75/50

                         x = 1.875 gallons

What is the area of a triangle whose vertices are R(−4,2) R ( − 4 , 2 ) , S(1,2) S ( 1 , 2 ) , and T(−5,−4)
gogolik [260]
The area of that triangle would be 5 units².
The formula for the area of a triangle is 1/2bh; with b being base and h being the height.
The base of the triangle is length of segment TS which is 5 units
The height of the triangle is 4-2= 2 units.
5×2=10
10÷2= 5

How derivative of this absolute value function is like this!
Daniel [21]

Recall the definition of absolute value.

|x| = \begin{cases} x & \text{if } x \ge 0 \\ -x & \text{if } x < 0 \end{cases}

When x,

|x| = x \implies \dfrac{d|x|}{dx} = 1

When x,

|x| = -x \implies \dfrac{d|x|}{dx} = -1

The derivative does not exist at x=0, since the one-sided limits

\displaystyle \lim_{x\to0^-} f'(x) = -1

and

\displaystyle \lim_{x\to0^+} f'(x) = +1

do not match.

So the derivative of |x| is

\dfrac{d|x|}{dx} = \begin{cases} 1 & \text{if } x > 0 \\ -1 & \text{if } x < 0 \\ \text{undefined} & \text{if } x = 0\end{cases}

Now we can write this as

\dfrac{d|x|}{dx} = \dfrac x{|x|} = \dfrac{|x|}x

since

x > 0 \implies |x| = x \implies \dfrac{|x|}x = \dfrac xx = 1

and

x < 0 \implies |x| = -x \implies \dfrac{|x|}x = -\dfrac xx = -1
