Her business will break even when she contains sold 1740 bottles of her lotion.

How many bottles of lotion must she make and sell before her business breaks even?

Given: She invests $15,225 in equipment to manufacture and package her lotion each bottle costs $3.25 to manufacture and sells for $12.

"Break even" occurs when Revenue = Costs.

($12/bottle)x = $15225 + ($3.25)x

Simplifying the above equation, we get

$8.75x = $15225

Diving both sides of the equation by 8.75, we get

$8.75x/8.75 = $15225/8.75

x = 1740 bottles

Therefore, the value of x = 1740 bottles.

Her business will break even when she contains sold 1740 bottles of her lotion.

Therefore, the correct answer is option b. 1740 bottles.

The back of Monique's property is a creek. Monique would like to enclose a rectangular area, using the creek as one side and fen
kondor19780726 [428]
So long as the perimeters are the same, rectangles and squares share the same area. For example, a square that is 2m by 2m across is 4m squared. A rectangle of 4m by 1m across is still 4m squared.

Therefore all we want to do here is see how big we can make our “square” perimeter using the creek. We have three sides to spread 580ft across, therefore if we divide this by 3, we get 193.3ft of fencing per side. If we then square this figure, we will then get the maximum possible area, which comes to 37,377ft squared. (That’s a huge garden).

I have no idea how to know when to factor or know when the polynomial is completely factored or not. PLEASE HELP!
Roman55 [17]

Problem 1 is fully factored as each term is a binomial raised to some exponent. If the exponent isn't showing up, it's because it is 1. Recall that x^1 = x.

Problem 2 can be factored further because x^2-8x+16 factors to (x-4)(x-4) or (x-4)^2. To get this factorization, you find two numbers that multiply to 16 and add to -8. Those two numbers are -4 and -4 which is where the (x-4)(x-4) comes from. Overall, the entire thing factors to (x-4)^2*(x+3)*(x-2)

Problem 3 is a similar story. We can factor x^2-1 into (x-1)(x+1). I used the difference of squares rule here. Or you can think of x^2-1 as x^2+0x-1, then find two numbers that multiply to -1 and add to 0. Those two numbers are +1 and -1 which leads to (x+1)(x-1). So the full factorization is (x-1)(x+1)(x+1)(x-4) which is the same as (x-1)(x+1)^2(x-4)
