a. The rocket splashes down after 63.94 seconds.

b. The rocket peaks at 7386.68 m

<h3>a. How to find when the rocket splashes down?</h3>

Since the height of the rocket is h(t) = -4.9t² + 370t + 402, the rocket splashes down when h(t) = 0.

So, h(t) = 0

-4.9t² + 370t + 402 = 0

Using the quadratic formula, we find t.

t = \frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac} }{2a}

where a = -4.9, b = 370 and c = 402

So, t = \frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac} }{2a}\\= \frac{-307 +/- \sqrt{(307)^{2} - 4(-4.9)(402)} }{2(-4.9)}\\= \frac{-307 +/- \sqrt{94249 + 7879.2} }{-9.8)}\\= \frac{-307 +/- \sqrt{102128.2} }{-9.8)}\\= \frac{-307 +/- 319.58}{-9.8)}\\= \frac{-307 + 319.58}{-9.8)} or \frac{-307 - 319.58}{-9.8)}\\= \frac{12.58}{-9.8)} or \frac{-626.58}{-9.8}\\= -1.28 or 63.94

Since t cannot be negative t = 63.94 s

So, the rocket splashes down after 63.94 seconds.

<h3>b. How to find the peak of the rocket?</h3>

Since h(t) = -4.9t² + 370t + 402, to find the time the rocket reaches it peak, we differentiate h(t) with respect to t and equate to zero.

Soi, dh(t)/dt = d(-4.9t² + 370t + 402)/dt

= -9.8t + 370

dh(t)/dt = 0

-9.8t + 370 = 0

-9.8t = -370

t = -370/-9.8

t = 37.76 s

Substitung t = 37.76 into h(t), we have

h(t) = -4.9t² + 370t + 402

h(37.76) = -4.9(37.76)² + 370(37.76) + 402

h(37.76) = -4.9(1425.82) + 370(37.76) + 402

h(37.76) = -6986.518 + 13971.2 + 402

h(37.76) = 7386.682 m

h(37.76) ≅ 7386.68 m

So, the rocket peaks at 7386.68 m

A circular ice rink is being built in town. Around the ice rink, a walkway will be built. The ice rink will have a diameter of 8
Archy [21]
 so the ice rink diameter is 80 feet what mean that the radius of ice rink is 40 feet the walkway is 10 feet wide so 10+40=50 what mean that the radius and the walkway wide make 50 feet length together
using this length area = pi*r^2 = 3,14*(50)^2 = 7850 feet squared
area of ice rink = 3,14*40^2 = 5024 feet squared

area of the walkway = 7850-5024 = 2826 feet squared

hope helped

NO LINKS!! Use the diagram below to answer the following questions.
diamong [38]

Answer:

a) WS, ZV, YU

b) VU

c) ZW

d) WXY

e) None

f) TU, TV, UV, XY, XZ, YZ

g) SW, VX, VZ, WX, WZ, YZ

Step-by-step explanation:

A prism is a polyhedron that has:

  • Two bases that are congruent and parallel to each other.
  • Lateral sides that are parallelograms and link the two bases.
  • Height that is the distance between the two bases.

From inspection of the give diagram, the figure appears to be a quadrilateral prism with bases STUV and WXYZ.

<u>Parallel line segments</u>

  • Parallel line segments lie on parallel lines.
  • Parallel lines are lines on a plane that <u>never meet</u> and are the <u>same distance apart</u>.

a) Segments parallel to XT:

  • WS, ZV, YU

b) Segments parallel to ZY:

  • VU

c) Segments parallel to VS:

  • ZW

<u>Planes</u>

  • A plane is a flat, two-dimensional surface that extends into infinity.
  • A plane can be named by the letters naming three non-collinear points in the plane.
  • Parallel planes are planes that never intersect.

d) Planes parallel to plane STU:

  • WXY

e) Planes parallel to plane UVZ:

  • None

<u>Skew lines</u>

Skew lines are a pair of non-coplanar lines that:

  • Do <u>not</u> intersect.
  • Are <u>not</u> parallel to each other.

f) Segments skew to SW:

  • TU, TV, UV, XY, XZ, YZ

g) Segments skew to UT:

  • SW, VX, VZ, WX, WZ, YZ

What is the volume of a prism if the area of its cross-section is 2 m² and its length is 7 m?
DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

14m^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of the prism = base area * height

Given

Area of the cross section = 2m^2

Length = 7m

Substitute

Volume of the prism = 2 * 7

Volume of the prism = 14m^3

Hence the volume of the prism is 14m^3
