Ifx=−8, evaluate the following expression:(x−2)(x+4)x(x+9)
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

= 40

Step-by-step explanation:

so if you mean x = -8

(x - 2)(x + 4) \times (x + 9) \\

( - 8 - 2)( - 8 + 4) \times ( - 8 + 9)

( - 10)( - 4) \times 1

40 \times 1

Use induction to prove: For every integer n > 1, the number n5 - n is a multiple of 5.
nignag [31]

Answer:

we need to prove : for every integer n>1, the number n^{5}-n is a multiple of 5.

1) check divisibility for n=1, f(1)=(1)^{5}-1=0  (divisible)

2) Assume that f(k) is divisible by 5, f(k)=(k)^{5}-k

3) Induction,

f(k+1)=(k+1)^{5}-(k+1)

=(k^{5}+5k^{4}+10k^{3}+10k^{2}+5k+1)-k-1

=k^{5}+5k^{4}+10k^{3}+10k^{2}+4k

Now, f(k+1)-f(k)

f(k+1)-f(k)=k^{5}+5k^{4}+10k^{3}+10k^{2}+4k-(k^{5}-k)

f(k+1)-f(k)=k^{5}+5k^{4}+10k^{3}+10k^{2}+4k-k^{5}+k

f(k+1)-f(k)=5k^{4}+10k^{3}+10k^{2}+5k

Take out the common factor,

f(k+1)-f(k)=5(k^{4}+2k^{3}+2k^{2}+k)      (divisible by 5)

add both the sides by f(k)

f(k+1)=f(k)+5(k^{4}+2k^{3}+2k^{2}+k)

We have proved that difference between f(k+1) and f(k) is divisible by 5.

so, our assumption in step 2 is correct.

Since f(k) is divisible by 5, then f(k+1) must be divisible by 5 since we are taking the sum of 2 terms that are divisible by 5.

Therefore, for every integer n>1, the number n^{5}-n is a multiple of 5.

Gourmet Pretzels bakes soft pretzels on an assembly line. It currently bakes 800 pretzels each eight-hour shift. If the producti
Delvig [45]

Answer:

Change in productivity will be 50%

So option (b) will be correct option

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that it takes 8 hour to bake 800 pretzels

And there is a shift of 8 hours

So hourly production = \frac{800}{8} =100

Now the production is increases to 1200

Now hourly production = \frac{1200}{8}=150

So change in productivity  = \frac{150-100}{100}=50 %

So option (b) will be correct answer

What is the difference of the ones and the tenth digit of the pi?
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

<h3>2</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

The value of pi is 22/7

Expressing as a decimal, the first ten digits of pi is 3.1415926535

The value in the tenth digit of the pi is 5 (tenth value after the decimal point)

The value of the ones is 3(The value before the decimal point)

The difference between both values = 5 - 3

The difference between both values = 2

Hence the difference of the ones and the tenth digit of the pi is 2
