Hence, according to the question,

Length of the second piece = 2x cm

Length of the third piece = (2x + 7) cm

We have to find the length of the shortest piece.

Hence, we can write,

62 = x + 2x + (2x + 7)

62 = 5x + 7

5x = 62 - 7 =55

x = 55/11 = 5 cm

Hence, the shortest side is the first side of 5 cm.
