The registered nurse (rn) is evaluating a client who presents with symptoms of viral gastroenteritis. The assessment finding that the rn report to the healthcare provider is rebound abdominal tenderness over right lower quadrant.

Viral gastroenteritis is an inflammation that occurs in the lining of the gastrointestinal linings caused by viruses such as rotavirus, norovirus, and adenovirus. It can infect stomach, and intestine

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting and watery diarrhea. It can be spread from infected through the contamination.

Rebound tenderness over right lower quadrant is associated with acute appendicitis and not with viral gastroenteritis hence it should be reported.

What can i do to get rid of scar tissue in my esophagus from radiation necrosis?
NNADVOKAT [17]

Radiation necrosis, a focal structural lesion that usually occurs at the original tumor site, is a potential long-term central nervous system (CNS) complication of radiotherapy or radiosurgery. Edema and the presence of tumor render the CNS parenchyma in the tumor bed more susceptible to radiation necrosis. Radiation necrosis can occur when radiotherapy is used to treat primary CNS tumors, metastatic disease, or head and neck malignancies. It can occur secondary to any form of radiotherapy modality or regimen.

Nataly_w [17]
There are differences between having a sprained muscle in the ribs, or a broken rib. A broken rib tends to be more painful, may or may not protrude and can cause extreme swelling and bruising. A muscle strain will have bruising, swelling and pain but it will not protrude and will be less severe.
