Using proportions, the number of pounds that will be needed for a single serving is: one and three seventh pounds.

<h3>What is a proportion?</h3>

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three. Due to this, relations between variables, either direct(when both increase or both decrease) or inverse proportional(when one increases and the other decreases, or vice versa), can be built to find the desired measures in the problem, or equations to find these measures.

The number of pounds for 3 people is given by:

3 \frac{3}{7} = 3 + \frac{3}{7} = \frac{24}{7}

Hence, for one person, the number of pounds can be divided by three(multiplied by 1/3), hence:

\frac{24}{7} \times \frac{1}{3} = \frac{24}{21}

24 divided by 21 has a quotient of 1 and remainder of 3, hence as a mixed number, the amount is:

one and three seventh pounds.

Find the domain of the given function. f(x) = square root of quantity x plus six divided by quantity x plus seven times quantity
lisabon 2012 [21]
For this case we have the following function:
 \sqrt{ \frac{x+6}{x + 7(x-9)}}
 Rewriting the function we have:
 \sqrt{ \frac{x+6}{x + 7x - 63}}
 \sqrt{ \frac{x+6}{8x - 63}}
 Separating the roots we have:
 \frac{ \sqrt{x+6} }{ \sqrt{[tex]8x-63 \ \textgreater \  0&#10;&#10;&#10;}} [/tex]
 Then, the domain of the function is given by:
 x+6  \geq 0&#10;&#10;x  \geq -6
 And:
 8x \ \textgreater \  63
 Answer:
 x+6 \geq 0 x \geq -6
 or
 8x \ \textgreater \ 63

Lostsunrise [7]
Since x represents the length (in meters), the width, which is 7 meters greater, is x +7. The product of these dimensions is the area (in square meters):
  x(x +7) = 170
In standard form, the quadratic is ...
  x² +7x -170 = 0
