The reason for the growth of the middle class at the turn of the twentieth century was a need for more unskilled laborers.

Why did the middle class grow in the 20th century?

At the turn of the 20th century, factories and industries were paying better but needed more people to work for them.

These new laborers did not need as much skills and so were able to be employed enmasse and make enough in wages to join the middle class.

In conclusion, the need for more unskilled laborers led to the growth of the middle class.

Meanwhile, Churchill was very paranoid of Stalin and had been spying on the Soviets. Double agents were popping up everywhere, and fears boiled through Allied countries.
