A sinking fund provision is attractive; to investors, so bonds with a sinking fund provision generally have lower yields than bonds without.

What is sinking fund provision?

Sinking provision means setting funds over time which are meant to repay the bond principal amount at bond maturity , in other words, a bond with such provision is safe because to a large extent, there would be no default on repayment of principal.

Besides, the fact that sinking fund provision on bonds is attractive means such bonds would earn lower  yield as there is an inverse relationship between risk and return

You are given the following information: sales, $260; expenses other than depreciation, $140; depreciation expense, $50; margina
masha68 [24]

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

1. The net cash after-tax cash flow effect of the preceding information of using the indirect method.

First, we need to calculate the pretax income.

Pretax income = Sales - Expenses other than depreciation - depreciation expense

Pretax income = $260 - $140 - $50 = $70

Also,

Tax expense = 35% × pretax income $70 = $24.5

Therefore, the indirect method would be;

Pretax income

$70

Less:

Tax expense

($24.5)

After tax income

$45.5

Add:

Depreciation expense

$50

After-tax cash flow

$95.5

Direct method

After tax cash operating income

[($260 - $140 - $50) × (1 - tax rate 35%)]

$45.5

Add :

Depreciation expense

$50

After tax cash flow

$95.5

You just received a loan from your banker to buy seed and plant your alfalfa field. The loan is a discount loan and is for $5,00
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

Apr = 11.11%

Explanation:

Given:

Discounted amount = $5,000

Number of year = 1

Quoted rate = 10%

Find:

APR

Computation:

Actual loan amount = $5,000[100%/(100%-10%)]

Actual loan amount = $5,000[100%/(90%)]

Actual loan amount = $5,555.56

A = P(1+r)¹

5,555.56 = 5,000( 1 + r )

1.1111 = 1 + r

APR = 0.1111

Apr = 11.11%
