In this excerpt, the author characterizes Karim's actions to
reveal that Karim
zhenek [66]

Full question: Read the excerpt from Iqbal.

It's true that Karim did everything the master wanted and that he supervised us, because otherwise he would have had nowhere to go and nothing to eat, but he would never have had the courage to peek into the master's windows. It was big trouble for anyone to go near the house.

In this excerpt, the author characterizes Karim’s actions to: reveal that Karim is unafraid of Hussain Khan. is dependent on Hussain Khan. enjoys working for Hussain Khan. wants to leave Hussain Khan.

Answer: Is dependent on Hussain Khan.

Explanation:

We can see at the beginning of the excerpt that Karim did everything that the master wanted because without him there would be nothing to eat and live which means that he is dependent on his master.

 • The narrator is clearly showing his dependence and he is dependent on him because those things that he is working for him are bringing him things that are important for his living. If he doesn't do everything for his master, there would be no life for him, he would not have food or home.

Which one contains an infinitive?
Elan Coil [88]

The phrase that is infinitive is given in option (a): to go to the store. Therefore, "to" is the first word, "go" is the verb, and ends with the place "store."

What are infinitive phrases?

A combination of words known as an infinitive phrase includes an infinitive, a modifier, pronouns, direct objects, indirect objects, or complements of the action or state described in the infinitive.

Find the word to first, then look for the infinitive phrase. Second, it is an infinitive if the word immediately after to is a verb. Third, the infinitive phrase starts at to and finishes at the end of the sentence if it occurs in the midst of the sentence.

Alternative example:

Dawn assisted her friend in making a cake for his mother.

('Helped' is the "special" verb.) Her companion is the direct object. The bare infinitive of the infinitive phrase is "bake." A cake is its direct object. This time, the infinitive sentence also has an indirect object ("his mother").

Hence, option (a) contains infinitive.

Overall, how does Martin Luther King's use of rhetorical devices affect his message? Does it make his speech more powerful? Why
Aliun [14]

The use of rhetorical devices by the African-American Civil Rights leader was very effective and this is shown in his infamous speech, I Have A Dream as he makes use of repetitions and asks some pertinent questions to convince his audience.

His speech was both moving and very effective and this solidified him as a powerful orator.

What is Rhetorical Appeal?

This refers to the use of words to convince a person and also the literary devices that is used to convey this.

Hence, we can see that the use of repetition by Martin Luther King Jr was very effective as he repeats the words "I have a dream" as he talks about a free, equal, and just society where people are not judged by the color of their skin, but the content of their characters.
