Beowulf is one of the extant Anglo - Saxon texts. It was written in Alliterative Verse and deals with the themes of Heroism, Good vs Evil, Christianity, etc.

So Beowulf is the protagonist of this long narrative epic poem. In this poem, Grendel fights three Evil souls Grendel, Grendel's Mother and, Dragon to save humanity from evil.

Beowulf as a young man fights Grendel the monster and defeats him thus gaining a lot of popularity. After Grendel's death, Grendel's mother comes and fights Beowulf and he kills her too. Thus helping people to fight evil and live a peaceful life.

Lastly, as a King in his old age, he killed the Dragon to save his people, though he too died fighting the Dragon.
