Answer:

1/4

Explanation:

if you look at the attached image, i made a punnett square to represent the relationship. Only one of the squares is aa genotype out of 4, therefore the probability that their first two offspring will both be the “aa” genotype is 1/4.

Answer:the probability of their first two offspring being aa is 0.25

Explanation:

Because their are 4 possible genotypes for the offsprings

A recessive allele causes phenylketonuria (PKU) when homozygote. If the frequency of the recessive allele is 0.05 in the populat
Radda [10]

Answer:

0.095

Explanation:

Phenylkentonuria is a disease caused by a recessive allele.

The frequency of the recessive allele + the frequency of the dominant allele equals 1.

The frequency of the recessive allele is q = 0.05

The frequency of the dominant allele then is p = 1  - q = 0.95

If people mate randomly, the frequency of the homozygous dominant genotype will be p², the frequency of the heterozygous genotype will be 2pq and the frequency of the homozygous recessive genotype will be q² .

2pq=2× 0.05 × 0.95

2pq=0.095

The heterozygote frequency in the population is 0.095

What would happen if a cell transcribed and translated a gene’s intron by mistake?
wariber [46]

An intron is a non-coding region of DNA. During alternative splicing, introns are removed.

  • During eukaryotic transcription, a fragment of DNA (e.g., a gene) is used as a template to synthesize a complementary RNA sequence, usually a precursor mRNA (pre-mRNA).

  • Subsequently, this pre-mRNA is processed by a mechanism called alternative splicing in order to produce a mature mRNA which is then used as template to synthesize a protein by a process called translation.

  • During alternative splicing, non-coding regions of a gene called 'introns' are removed, where coding regions called 'exons' are spliced back together.

  • If a cell transcribed and translated a gene’s intron by mistake, then additional amino acids would be inserted into the protein and therefore the resulting protein will be longer than normal.
