The ruins of buildings and infrastructure in Mohenjodaro demonstrate the cultures of the Indus river valley by showing how the inhabitants of Mohenjodaro engaged in urban planning and community-wide cooperation.

Mohenjo-Daro is the largest site found and excavated of the Indus Valley civilization. In its literal meaning, it means “Mound of the Dead Men”. First discovered by Rakhal Das Benerji in 1920, an officer of the Archaeological Survey of India. Like most Harrapan cities it has two parts – the Citadel and the Lower City. It is famous for a rectangular public pool situated in the citadel which is called the Great Bath. The people of Mohenjo Daro were engaged in specialized tasks, including brickmaking, construction, engineering, and agriculture.
