The food accounted in DeSoto's expedition depended on the place and time they were the expeditioners. Sometimes, they found richer lands or the Native Americans taught them how to cook or what to eat.

They mainly found swine, papaya, green corn, roasted roots such as Swamp potatoes or blites, beans. Sometimes those beans were cooked wirh "little dogs", similar to the hot dogs that we know nowadays.

Corn  was boiled, roasted, and pounded into flour. Corn cakes, onions, mulberries, nut milk which was converted into butter or oil.
