Ausable told that his room was a part of the unit of his neighboring apartment which was cut out and made, he told Max and fowler that twice a month he was feeling that people would enter from the balcony.
This was said so that he can get rid of them. So when the knocking on the door begins, Max and fowler were not sure what to do, but as the knocking grew louder they decided to go through the window on the pretext that there was a balcony present.
