The length of a rectangular garden is three times its width, w. The area of the garden is 300 m². Explain why the expression 3w

represents the area of the garden. Because it means 3 times the widthon 2 sides. Use the expression in problem 2 to find the dimensions of the garden.

If the length is three times the width and the area of the rectangle is

300 m^{2} then the length of rectangle is 30m and width be 10m.

Given that the length is three times the width and the area of the rectangle is 300 m^{2}.

We are required to find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

Area of the rectangle is basically the product of length and breadth.

let the breadth of rectangle be w.

The length of rectangle will be 3w.

Area=Length*Breadth

300=3w*w

300=3w^{2}

100=w^{2}

w=+10,-10 but ignore -10 because width cannot be negative.

Length=3w=3*10=30m

Width=w=10m

The area can be written as 3w^{2} because the area of rectangle is product of length and breadth.

Hence if the length is three times the width and the area of the rectangle is  300 m^{2} then the length of rectangle is 30m and width be 10m.

KiRa [710]
Turn 3 3/4 into an improper fraction, so it becomes 15/4. Then divide 15/4 by 1/3. Which would just be to multiple by the reciprocal, 15/4 times 3/1, to get 11 1/4, and since 1/4 is smaller than 1/3 the maximum number of smoothies is 11

Solve the proportion.
DochEvi [55]

Answer:

b= 6/5

b = 1 1/5

Step-by-step explanation:

We can solve this using cross products

(3b-4)      (b-2)

--------- = ---------

4               8

8* (3b-4) = 4*(b-2)

Distribute

24b -32 = 4b -8

Subtract 4b from each side

24b-4b -32 = 4b-4b-8

20b -32 = -8

Add 32 to each side

20b -32+32 = -8 +32

20b =24

Divide each side by 20

20b/20 = 24/20

b= 24/20

Dividing the top and bottom by 4

b = 6/5

b = 1 4/20

   =1 1/5
