The  Political consolidation that took place in both China and Western Europe is one that stood out.

Note that in China this seen to be a unitary and centralized government that is made up of almost the total of its civilization, while in Europe  there is found to be fragmented system of a lot of separate, independent, as well as competitive states that  are sharply divided.

Note also that both experienced a lot of cultural flowering, Europe's culture after the Renaissance was seen to be more different from its said past but Ming dynasty China was not that different from its pre-Mongol glory.
