Patrick Henry made an interesting proposal. He thought that the American
should have an imperial Union with Britain.
This would mean that all laws passed by the British Parliament would also have to get approval from the American assembly for them to be valid in America.
They decided to try to not purchase anything from Britain.

By the middle of the 1700s, the colonists that were educated were influenced by The Enlightenment. The Enlightenment, which began in Europe, spread ideas that knowledge, reasons, and science could be improved. Science soon took an interest in the colonies. People would observe nature, staged experiments, and they published their findings.
