The image shows the transcription process in which mRNA is being synthesized. DNA double strands open in the transcription bubble and RNA polymerase acts there to add the correct nucleotides.

<h3>What is transcription?</h3>

In protein synthesis, the first step is to synthesize messenger RNA, mRNA.

Transcription is the coping process of the DNA section, occurs inside the nucleus membrane, and uses fragments of DNA molecules to do it.

During transcription, the DNI molecule separates into two strands to form the transcription bubble. At this point, two strands can identify, the coding strand and the template strand.

  • The coding strand goes in direction 5' to 3' and carries the same nucleotides as mRNA, except for thymine which is replaced by uracyl in the RNA molecule.

  • The template -complementary- DNI strand is read in direction 3´→ 5´ to build the mRNA molecule in direction 5´→ 3´.

While growing, the mRNA strand complements the DNA template strand. Bases complementation is as follows,

  • Adenine pairs DNA Thymine
  • Uracyl pairs DNA Adenine
  • Guanine pairs Cytosine
  • Cytosine pairs Guanine

The enzyme RNA polymerase reads the original DNI strand to add the correct nucleotides during mRNA synthesis.

Once transcription is over, mRNA moves to the cytoplasm to begin the translation process.

In the image we can see

1) the DNA molecule at the left. We can differenciate the template strand from the coding one.

2) the transcription bubble and RNA polymerase acting there.

3) Growing mRNA which complements the template strand

4) Available free nucleotides which are added to the polymere

olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

C) no, the final mRNA contains only exons, the introns were removed

Explanation:

Exons are the coding areas while the introns are non-coding areas. Both of these are the sequences of nucleotide within a gene.

RNA splicing is a process which usually occurs as the RNA matures, causing the removal of introns ( non coding areas of the RNA ) i-e they will not be expressed in the final messenger RNA, while exons continue to form covalent bonds with one another to form a  mature mRNA.

So in the given scenario, Upon comparison, the mRNA is found to contain 1,000 fewer bases than the DNA sequence because the introns were removed by RNA splicing.

Hence option C) no, the final mRNA contains only exons, the introns were removed is correct.

Which solution of ethyl alcohol is more effective at inhibiting microbial growth: a 70% solution or a 100% solution? Why?
Triss [41]

Answer:

70% solution is more effective

Explanation:

The 70% solution is more effective at inhibiting microbial growth than the 100% solution of the ethyl alcohol.

This is because the pure ethyl alcohol coagulates the protein that is in contact with it.

Also, pure alcohol will tend to evaporate faster than the 70% solution of the ethyl alcohol and it will not be that much effective.

lyudmila [28]

YES THAT FIRST SENTENCE IS VERY TRUE.YES, GENE DOPING IS USED BY MANY ATHLETES AROUND THE WORLD.IT CAUSES SEVERAL EFFECTS LIKE:
 a) increased extraordinary hematocrit
 b) increased thrombotic activity
 c) autoimmune anemia,ETC.
ANY TWO GENETIC MODIFICATIONS THAT WOULD IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF AN ATHLETE ARE:
a.gene therapy should be given to produce more hormones in the body.
 b. gene therapy is given to athletes because they have been used to study and model cancer (the oncomouse), obesity, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, substance abuse, anxiety, aging and Parkinson disease to check for the athletes.
