Homeotherms control their temperature primarily through physiological mechanisms, while poikilotherms control their temperatures primarily through behavioral mechanisms.

What is temperature?

 • Thermometer is calibrated using different temperature scales that historically defined themselves using different reference points and thermometric substances.
 • The most popular scales are the Celsius scale, also known as "centigrade," with the unit °C, the Fahrenheit scale, with the unit °F, and the Kelvin scale, with the unit K.
 • The latter is primarily used for scientific research and is the primary temperature scale specified by the International System of Units (SI).
 • Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature, at which a body can no longer lose thermal energy.
 • The third law of thermodynamics acknowledges that it can only be very closely approximated experimentally, but not actually reached.

Describe the role of smooth muscle in two human body systems other than the cardiovascular system.
Ahat [919]

Human Body Systems

Explanation:

 • Cardiac and skeletal muscle and cardiac(heart) are both striated in appearance, while smooth muscle isn't.
 • Both Cardiac and smooth muscle are automatic while skeletal muscle is deliberate.
 • Cardiovascular muscle is likewise an automatic muscle yet is progressively associated in structure to skeletal muscle, and is discovered uniquely in the heart.
 • Smooth muscles move nourishment through the stomach related tract.
 • In one's eye the pupillary sphincter muscles is answerable for contracting the size of the student.
 • Smooth muscle developments keep up the supply routes' breadth. Smooth muscle controls wind stream in lungs.
 • Heart muscles are striated not normal for smooth muscles.
 • Cardiovascular muscles are found in the heart dividers and aorta while smooth muscles are found in most of blood vessels and internal organs.

How might targeting rapidly growing cells explain common chemotherapy side effects such as hair loss and nausea
IrinaVladis [17]

Cancer cells are the cells that divide rapidly than any other cells in the body. The drugs used in chemotherapy work on rapidly dividing cancer cells. Some cells of our body apart from cancer cells also divide rapidly along with the cancer cells such as the cells that line the stomach and the digestive tract. Chemotherapy drugs cannot differentiate the cancer cells and the normal cells so these drugs also attack the normal cells which divide rapidly along with the cancer cells. The drugs also attack the cells that are present in the roots of the hair. So, this results in the hair loss. Hair loss does not occur immediately after the chemotherapy treatment instead it starts after few treatments. The degree of the hair loss after chemotherapy depends on the drug type and process. So when the chemotherapy drugs are used it results in the hair loss and nausea.

Therefore, when chemotherapy drugs attack normal cells including the roots of the hair instead of cancer cells that divide rapidly along with the cancer cells it results in the hair loss and nausea.
