Industrialized nations have become credential societies. Employers use diplomas and degrees as sorting devices to determine who is eligible for a job. Schools will "weed out the incapable"

A credential society is one in which degrees and diplomas are used to determine employment eligibility. Employers, particularly in urban areas, who must choose from a pool of anonymous applicants, require a system for determining who is and is not capable of working. Those who have earned a college diploma have shown responsibility, consistency, and, presumably, basic skills. Some occupations necessitate highly specialized training that employers cannot provide.

The demand for credentials has grown to such an extent that it is altering the face of higher education. Many students who attend college for a year or two (or even a two-year associate degree) and then enter the workforce in an entry-level job may find that they need a four-year degree.

In a condition wherein a machine costing $148,000 and accumulates depreciation of $103,000 is sold for $59,000 cash, then the amount that should be reported as a source of cash under the cash flows from investing activities will be $59,000. Therefore, the option C holds true.

Cash flows from investing activities include the amount(s) spent by an organization over investing in different classes of assets with a view to pursue monetary returns. They include the amounts that are received or sent as cash at the time of purchase or sales of an asset of an organization.

algol [13]

Answer:

=$5,230,000

Explanation:

Annual Depreciation=Depreciable Value×Units produced during the year estimated total production

The units of the depreciation method start by calculating the depreciable amount.

Depreciable  amount = Assets cost - salvage value

=$21,220,000.-$4,000,000

=$17,220,000

depreciation expense per unit=  depreciable amount/production capacity

=$17,220,000/210,000 per tone

=$82 per tone

During the year, 195,000 were extracted.

The depreciation value for the year will be

= 82 x 195,000

=$15,990,000

book value will be asset cost minus depreciation expense

=$21,220,000 -$15,990,000

=$5,230,000
