The major change that has been made in the category of somatic symptoms and related disorders in DSM-5 is that all the types of disorders like somatization, pain, and undifferentiated somatoform have been discarded.

What is DSM-5?

The term DSM is the short form of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, and DSM-5 is the fifth edition. It is the most up-to-date criteria which were published in 2013 with a total of 947 pages.

It contains a common language to communicate with clinicians. In the DSM-5 all such kinds of conditions are added which include factitious disorder as well as psychological factors.

Thus, in DSM-5 few types of disorders have been discarded.
