Mathematics

3(x - 2) < 18 and h + 6 > -3h + 12 would be graphed with an open circle.

Open circle is a term used for numbers that are less than (<) or greater than (>). On the other hand, Closed circle is used for numbers that are less than or equal to (≤ ) and greater than or equal to (≥).

Here, we are given four inequalities, let us check them one by one-

A. h + 6 > -3h + 12

⇒ 4h > 6

or h > 3/2

Here, we see that there is no equality sign, this means that 3/2 won't be included and hence h + 6 > -3h + 12 would be an open circle inequality.

B. 7 ≥ d/3

⇒ d ≤ 21

Here, we can clearly see the equality sign which means that 21 will be included. Hence, 7 ≥ d/3 would not be graphed with an open circle.

C. 3(x - 2) < 18

x - 2 < 6

x < 8

Here, we see that there is no equality sign, this means that 8 won't be included and hence 3(x - 2) < 18 would be graphed with an open circle.

D. 2y ≤ 14

y ≤ 7

Here, we can clearly see the equality sign which means that 7 will be included. Hence, 2y ≤ 14 would not be graphed with an open circle.

Thus, 3(x - 2) < 18 and h + 6 > -3h + 12 would be graphed with an open circle.

Answer:

P = 184 yards

C = 175.84 centimetres

P = 212 m

Step-by-step explanation:

P = 2(150 yards) + 2(92 yards)

P = 300 yards + 184 yards

P = 184 yards

C = 2(3.14) × (28 centimetres)

C = 6.28 × (28 centimetres)

C = 175.84 centimetres

P = 104 m + 32 m + 76 m

P = 212 m

Need help with this. Hope someone can help
ratelena [41]

First, convert all of the cm measurements to m measurements (so they are all the same unit measurement)

2000 cm = 20 m         800 cm = 8m

Total Perimeter (Note that circumference of a semi-circle is 2 π r/2 = π r)

Add up the lengths of all of the outside edges. I am going to start on the top and move counter-clockwise:

40 + π (10) + 8 + 25 + 8 + (40 - 25 - 10) + 8 + 10 + 8 + π(10)

= 40 + 10π + 41 + (5) + 26 + 10π

= 112 + 20π

= 112 + 62.8

= 174.8

Answer: 174.8 m

Total Area

Split the picture into 5 sections (2 semi-circles, top rectangle, bottom left rectangle, and bottom right rectangle). Find the area for each of those sections and then add their areas together to find the total area.

2 semi-circles is 1 Circle: A = π · r²  ⇒ A = π(20/2)² =  π(10)²  = 100π  ≈  314

top rectangle: A = L x w  ⇒  A = 40 x 20  = 800

bottom left rectangle: A = L x w  ⇒  A = 25 x 8  = 200

bottom right rectangle: A = L x w  ⇒  A = 10 x 8  = 80

Total = 314 + 800 + 200 + 80  = 1394

Answer: 1394 m²

Algebra I

  • Terms/Coefficients

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define

3(x - 2) + 8 = 2(x + 5)

Step 2: Solve for x

  1. (Parenthesis) Distribute:                                                                               3x - 6 + 8 = 2x + 10
  2. Combine like terms:                                                                                     3x + 2 = 2x + 10
  3. {Subtraction Property of Equality] Subtract 2x on both sides:                    x + 2 = 10
  4. [Subtraction Property of Equality] Subtract 2 on both sides: x = 8

Step 3: Check

Plug in x into the original equation to verify it's a solution.

  1. Substitute in x:                                                                                               3(8 - 2) + 8 = 2(8 + 5)
  2. (Parenthesis) Subtract/Add:                                                                         3(6) + 8 = 2(13)
  3. Multiply:                                                                                                         18 + 8 = 26
  4. Add:                                                                                                               26 = 26

Here we see that 26 does indeed equal 26.

∴ x = 8 is the solution to the equation.
