Well there is many more then 13 but its capitals
Either "By 2007, more Americans lived in or near cities than they did in rural areas." or "<span>Even today, the need for work is a common reason people move to urban areas."</span>
I believe it is to add sensory words to appeal to the reader and make it more interesting. I hope this helps!
