Because nonverbal communication can sometimes carry multiple messages, it is important to learn how to decipher the meaning of nonverbal messages.

We can define nonverbal communication as a method of communication in which methods other than using words convey the message that another person wants to represent. Nonverbal communication includes changes in body language, usage of certain gestures, changes in facial expressions etc.

People have learned over time to use nonverbal communication as a common means of sending messages or conveying their thoughts. Hence, it is important socially to learn how to decipher the meaning of nonverbal messages. Through learning how to interpret nonverbal communication, we can learn valuable information about a particular situation.

For example,  a person who is angry might show a change in body language and cross his arms.
