A living microbe with reduced virulence that is used for vaccination is considered as attentuated vaccine.

Vaccination is the process of immunization in which the immune response is stimulated by introducing either the weakened microbe or a its part into our body.

A vaccine can be developed from the various methods. Firstly a weakened or inactivated bacteria is introduced into the body of the individual which generated the immune response but will not cause disease. It is also called attentuated vaccine.

Secondly a part of the microbe may be a protein or cell wall is introduced in the form of antigen to initiate immune response.

Thirdly the genetic material of the microbe including the DNA or RNA.
