"Who has the greatest need?" should be our consideration when deciding for whom to produce a potentially scarce or limited resource

What are Scarce Resources?

Resource scarcity refers to the shortage of commodities needed to sustain life or a specific standard of living. One of the core concepts in the study of economics is this. For economic theory, which frequently believes that people have limitless wants but must discover ways to satisfy these wants with few resources, scarcity is an ongoing problem.

The degradation of natural resources has the following causes:

 • Degradation of the Land and Soil

The most productive and nutrient-rich layer of soil on earth, known as the topsoil, is typically 2 to 8 inches deep. This topsoil is continuously subjected to poor farming and irrigation methods, which erode the topsoil's quality and leach nutrients from it, causing it to lose its flora, fauna, and biodiversity. A once-fertile land becomes desertified as a result of soil erosion.

 • Earth Erosion

The following actions harm the topsoil:

 1. excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers, which kills the soil microorganisms that replenish the soil's nutrients.
 2. Ineffective irrigation techniques cause water logging and a rise in soil salinity.
 • Water Pollution

The contaminants that are dumped into these water bodies from industrial and home waste have all deteriorated the primary water resources, such as the seas, rivers, and lakes. This has an impact on both the existence and sustenance of plants and marine life.

 • Air Quality Deterioration

The quality of the air in the atmosphere has deteriorated due to the heavy air pollution produced by vehicles, factories, and other human activities. One of the main effects of air pollution is global warming and ozone layer depletion.

Thus, the needs of all people should be taken care of when deciding to produce scarce resources for society.

g ___ would help prevent the creation of leachate. ___________ would help prevent the creation of leachate. Adding water to soli
Vinvika [58]

Answer:

Geotextile would help prevent the creation of leachate. Using a single-liner system rather than a double-liner system would help prevent the creation of leachate.

Explanation:

Landfill liners must have several layers, including a one of soil, then a geotextile (a synthetic permeable membrane) layer that lets water through but filters out any small pieces of trash, a leachate (water) collection system, a plastic liner layer in order to prevent leachate from reaching the groundwater, and to prevent leachate from polluting the underlining groundwater.

The generation of leachate is caused principally by precipitation percolating through waste deposited in a landfill. Once in contact with decomposing solid waste, the percolating water becomes contaminated, and if it then flows out of the waste material it is termed leachate.

Therefore, there are many methods of leachate treatment such as: Aerobic Biological Treatment such as aerated lagoons and activated sludge. Anaerobic Biological Treatment such as anaerobic lagoons, reactors. Physiochemical treatement such as air stripping, pH adjustment, chemical precipitation, oxidation, and reduction.
