If your brainstem is destroyed, the left side of your brain could not control the movements of your right hand.

Brainstem- The brainstem is the region at the base of the brain that is located between the cervical spinal cord and the deep cerebral hemispheres. It plays a crucial role in controlling some involuntary bodily functions like breathing and heartbeat.

Spinal cord- A column of nerve fibers that extends from the skull base to the middle of the back. It has three thin membrane-like layers of protecting tissue covering it. The vertebrae encircle the spinal cord and its surrounding membranes (back bones).

Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

The human cell cycle has two main phases: the interphase and the M phase

Explanation:

Just like every cell, the human cell cycle has two main phases which are;

  • The interphase
  • The M phase

The interphase phase is further divided into 4 respective sub-phases namely;

  • G_0 phase which is essentially a resting/quiescence phase. It  reserved for cells that have no need to divide unless they are called upon.
  • G_1 phase, a phase where cell growth and development takes place.
  • S phase, a phase where DNA is synthesized.
  • G_2 phase, a phase where protein is synthesized.

The M phase is known as the active division phase. M can be mitosis or meiosis depending on the type of cells. Reproductive/sex cells will undergo meiosis while somatic/vegetative cells will undergo mitosis.

Mitosis is further divided into prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase while meiosis is divided into prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I, telophase I and prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II, telophase II respectively.

Compartments A and B are separated by a membrane that is permeable to K+ but not to Na+ or Cl-. At time zero, a solution of KCl
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

The electrical and diffusion potentials for K+ will be equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

Explanation:

The cell potential may be defined as the potential difference between the inside of the cell and outside the cell. This difference is important for the transmission of nerve impulse.

The equilibrium condition may be defined as the condition at which  the exit and the entrance of the ions will be equal. As the information in the question, Only potassium ions will move inward and outward of the cell. The potassium ions will move in opposite direction since the equilibrium has been reached.

Thus, the correct answer is option (D).

Why do you think a growing human population means a mass extinction event for Earth’s animals? Cite your evidence.
Lunna [17]

Hello,

A “biological annihilation” of wildlife in recent decades means a sixth mass extinction in Earth’s history is under way and is more severe than previously feared, according to research. Scientists analysed both common and rare species and found billions of regional or local populations have been lost. They blame human overpopulation and over consumption for the crisis and warn that it threatens the survival of human civilization, with just a short window of time in which to act.

Hope this helps!!!! Happy Holidays!!!! (:

Which level of biodiversity involves variations within a single population?
Alisiya [41]

Biodiversity is the inconsistency among living organisms from all foundations, including terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystems.  The answer is Intrapopulation diversity. Intrapopulation variability in resource gaining influences population dynamics, with significant implications for conservation planning. Spatial analyses of niche difference within and among populations can afford relevant information about ecological relations.
