The lipid portion of lipopolysaccharide is known as endotoxin because it can cause fever and shock.

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which are bacterial endotoxins, are big molecules made up of a lipid and a polysaccharide. The outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria contains these molecules, which are made up of an O-antigen, an outer core, and an inner core that are all connected by covalent connections.

Although there are some which are released when the cell disintegrates that are unrelated to LPS, like the so-called delta-endotoxin proteins produced by Bacillus thuringiensis, the term "endotoxin" is still frequently used to refer to LPS in today's society.

Lipopolysaccharides can significantly affect a person's health, mostly via interacting with the immune system. LPS is a powerful immune system stimulator and pyrogen.

How many protons AND electrons would be present in total, in a neutral lead (Pb) atom?
STALIN [3.7K]

in a "neutral atom", the number of protons must be equal to the number of electrons, otherwise it would not be neutral, so yes it would still be 82

Why do you think<br> organisms in the<br> same kingdom are<br> not all identical?
vodomira [7]

Answer:

Evolution, mutation, and adaptation

Explanation:

Since different organisms adapt to different environments and receive different mutations, they adapt differently and slowly change. That is why there are different species of birds, just look at the galapagos islands, there are thousands of species of finches that changed to survive on each island. The same could be said for every organism since the early organisms that we evolved from were widespread, some evolved differently than others, leading to different fish, different lizards, different early mammals, and so on. That is why humans look different than dogs or cats, we evolved best to our environment so we could survive.

In which part of the heart do the endocardium extensions form?
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer:

Valves of the heart do the endocardium extenstions.

Explanation:

Endocardium is the inner most layer of heart containing tissue that lines the heart chamber and the outer most layer of the heart is called epicardium.

The main function of this structure is to protect the valves and heart chamber.

The endocardium consists of endothelial cells that controls myocardial function.

The homeometric and heterometric regulation is separated by myocardial system.

The endocardium also functions as a blood heart barrier thus controlling the ionic composition withih which the cadiomyocytes bathe.
