For skewed data displays, the median is often a better estimate of the center of distribution than the mean because the former is unaffected by large numbers.

<h3>What is mean?</h3>

Mean refers to the average of set of two or more numbers.

Mean of a set having 'n'  numbers = \frac{Sum Of 'n' Numbers}{n}

<h3>What is median?</h3>

Median refers to the middle-most value of a list of numbers, arranged either in ascending or descending order.

Median = \left \{ {{\frac{n}{2}^{th}  term, if n = even } \atop( (\frac{n-1}{2}+\frac{n+1}{2})/2)^{th} term, if n = odd   }} \right.

Now,

  • Since it takes the average of all the values in the data set, the mean is the most widely used measure of central tendency.
  • Because it is unaffected by exceptionally big numbers, the median performs better than the mean when analyzing data from skewed distributions.

Hence, For skewed data displays, the median is often a better estimate of the center of distribution than the mean.

Please help me with this problem <br> Evaluate (-½·3)³
-Dominant- [34]

Answer: -27/8

Step-by-step explanation:

\left(-\frac{1}{2}\cdot \:3\right)^3

\mathrm{Apply\:exponent\:rule}:\quad \left(-a\right)^n=-a^n,\:\quad \mathrm{if\:}n\mathrm{\:is\:odd}

\left(-\frac{1}{2}\cdot \:3\right)^3=-\left(\frac{1}{2}\cdot \:3\right)^3

=-\left(\frac{1}{2}\cdot \:3\right)^3

\mathrm{Apply\:exponent\:rule}:\quad \left(a\cdot \:b\right)^n=a^nb^n

\left(\frac{1}{2}\cdot \:3\right)^3=\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^3\cdot \:3^3

=-\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^3\cdot \:3^3

=-\frac{1}{8}\cdot \:3^3

=-\frac{1}{8}\cdot \:27

=-\frac{27}{8}

2. Lawn tickets cost $30 each and seat tickets cost $50
Andreas93 [3]
Okay so.
If lawn tickets are $30 and seat tickets are $50 and they sold 200 seat tickets.
50 multiplied by 200 is = $ 10,000
And the goal is $14,000.
So $14,000 subtract $10,000 is $4000
$4000 is how much they made in Lawn Tickets. In order to calculate how much lawn tickets were sold, is dividing $4000 by $30 since lawn tickets are $30.
4000 divided by $30 = 133
Not sure if this is correct but all the working and steps are correct! Hope this helps.
