  • On the filter paper, now sprinkle some magnesium oxide powder. Magnesium oxide powder should be covered with diluted sulfuric acid before being collected in an evaporating basin.
  • Observe the solution gathering in the basin. After gathering the solution in the basin, either let it evaporate naturally or heat it.
  • Crystals of magnesium sulfate are found in the residue that remains after the solution has evaporated.
