The man nominated for vice president replaced by Sargent Shriver was Thomas F. Eagleton

After the ritual, it was revealed that Eagleton had discovered a depression treatment in the 1960s. McGovern ultimately opted to replace Eagleton with former ambassador Sergeant Shriver, despite his initial support for keeping Eagleton on the ticket. The Nixon-Agnew ticket won the presidential election over the McGovern-Shriver ticket.

After the Eagleton controversy, the selection process for vice presidents took longer going forward. Senator Thomas Eagleton of Missouri, who petitioned labor unions and Catholics—two groups McGovern had singled out during the primary movement—was given the location by McGovern. The 1972 Democratic National Convention chose the team of McGovern and Eagleton.

The answer is fundamental attribution error. This is our inclination to clarify somebody's conduct in light of interior elements, for example, identity or air, and to think little of the impact that outside elements, for example, situational impacts, have on someone else's conduct.
