Hello and Good Morning Afternoon:

<u>Let's take this problem step-by-step</u>:

   (5x + 9) + (8x-30)=180\\\\\text{Take out the parentheses as they are unnecessary to solve this problem}\\5x + 9+8x-30=180\\\\\text{Combine like terms like variables to variables and constants to constants}\\5x + 8x + 9-30 = 180\\13x - 21=180\\13x = 201\\x = 15.46 \text{ or }\dfrac{201}{13}

<u>Answer: 15.46 or 201/13</u>

Hope that helps!

Take the like terms and add them to get 13x-21=180
We need to get x on its own to solve the equation.
So we do 180-21=201.

Thats equals 13x=201
We have to divide 13 on both sides to get x=201/13

A rectangular goat pasture has dimensions represented by the expressions y – 4 and 4y^2-3y+5 .Find the area of the pasture.
Nataly_w [17]
Given that the goat pasture is rectangular with the dimensions given by:
Length=(y-4) and Width=(4y^2-3y+5)
Thus the area of the pasture will be given:
Area=length*width
Area=(4y^2-3y+5)(y-4)
Area=y(4y^2-3y+5)-4(4y^2-3y+5)
Area=4y^3-19y^2+17y-20

In the spring a young maple is 18 feet tall. Over the summer it grows 8%. How
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

At end of summer, the Maple is 19.44 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find 8% of 18 feet and add it to 18 to get the new height.

To get percentage to decimal, we need to divide by 100. Hence

8/100 = 0.08

8% of 18 is:

18 * 0.08 = 1.44 feet

Now, we need to add this to 18 feet. We have:

18 + 1.44 = 19.44 feet

What is the unit rate for 128 pounds of dog food for 16 dogs
kiruha [24]
There could be two unit rates for this problem. We find the unit rate by dividing how much something gets for however much it is. For example:

If we wanted to find out how many pounds of dog food each dog gets, we divide the pounds of dog food all of them get by how many dogs there are:

128/16 = 8

So each dog receives 8 pounds of dog food. This is one unit rate.

Another unit rate would be how many dogs does one pound of dog food feed. We calculate this by dividing the amount of dogs by the pounds of dog food they received:

16/128 = 1/8

So one pound of dog food feeds 1/8 of a dog, this is the other unit rate.
