Step 1

Write out and name the two equations

3x - 5y = 11 ----------------- 1

x - 4y = -8 ----------------- 2

Step 2

Use elimination method

firstly, choice x as variable to eliminate.

secondly, make the coeficient equal by multiplying equation 2 by 3.

3x - 5y = 11

x - 4y = -8 x 3

3x - 5y = 11

3x - 12y = -24

thirdly, subtract if variable x have the same sign,

3x - 3x -5y - (-12y) = 1 1 - (-24)

-5y + 12y = 11 + 24

7y = 35

y = 35/7

y = 5

Step 3

substitute y in equation 1 to find x

3x - 5y = 11

3x - 5(5) = 11

3x - 25 = 11

3x = 1 1 + 25

3x = 36

x = 36/3

x = 12

What is 5/6 of 15 in simplest form.
aksik [14]

12  1/2 because you do 5/6 x 15/1 which 6/3 equals 2 and 15/3 equals 5 so you do 5/2 x 5/1

Help me please please please
Digiron [165]

Answer:

  GPA ≈ 2.67

Step-by-step explanation:

Grade points are weighted by credit hours:

  GPA = ∑(grade points×credit hours) / ∑(credit hours)

  GPA = (3×2 +2×4 +4×3 +2×3)/(2 +4 +3 +3)

  = (6 +8 +12 +6)/12 = 32/12 = 2 2/3

  GPA ≈ 2.67

A certain large manufacturing facility produces 20,000 parts each week. The manager of the facility estimates that about 1% of t
Slav-nsk [51]

Answer:

198 is the variance for the number of defective parts made each week.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

Number of parts produced each week =  20,000

Percentage of defective parts = 1%

We have to calculate the variance for the number of defective parts made each week.

We treat defective part as a success.

P(Defective part) = 1% = 0.01

p = 0.01

Then the number defective parts follows a binomial distribution .

Formula for variance =

\sigma^2 = np(1-p) = 20000(0.01)(1-0.01) = 198

Thus, 198 is the variance for the number of defective parts made each week.
