The constant that can be added to x^2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial is 2\frac{1}{4}

The given expression is

x^2 - 3x

To form a perfect square trinomial

(a-b)^2 =a^2-2ab+b^2

The given expression is

x^2 - 3x

first we have to add a constant term with it

x^2 - 3x + z

By comparing the given expression and the perfect square trinomial

a^2 =x^2

a = x

Similarly

-2ab = 3x

where know a =x

Then,

-2b = 3

b = -3/2

Similarly

b^2 = z

(\frac{-3}{2})^2 = z

9/4 = z

Convert the simple fraction to mixed fraction

9/4 = 2\frac{1}{4}

Hence, the constant that can be added to x^2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial is 2\frac{1}{4}

The complete question is :

Which of the following constants can be added to x2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial?

1\frac{1}{2},2\frac{1}{4} and 4\frac{1}{2}

What is an equation of the line that passes through the point (-6,-4)(−6,−4) and is parallel to the line x+6y=12x+6y=12?
masya89 [10]

Answer:

x + 6y + 30 = 0

Step-by-step explanation:

x + 6y = 12

6y = -x + 12

y = -⅙x + 2

Slope: -⅙

y - (-4) = -⅙(x - (-6))

y + 4 = -⅙(x + 6)

-6y - 24 = x + 6

x + 6y + 30 = 0

Can someone help me with the question please
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

Purple line: 4

Red dashed line: 2

Blue line: 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

The purple line is the steepest line, therefore it has the biggest constant of proportionality or slope. Since 4 is the biggest number among the others, we attribute it to the purple line (the one with the point C on it).

Think of it this way:

y = ax+b \\

here b = 0 so y = ax

The greater a is, the greater y is. So for any value of x, y will be become bigger and bigger if we increase the value of a.

Take for example this one:

y = 2x \\

Take x=2\\ therefore y =4

Now take y = 4x and take x =2 therefore y = 8

When we increased this constant of proportionality, as you can see from 2 to 4, the value of y increase from 4 to 8.

Hope this is helpful. Think of it really carefully, and I'm sure you'll grasp the concept.

Three square flower beds with side of 2m are dug in a rectangular piece of land whose length is 5.2 m and width is 4.8 m. What i
belka [17]

Answer: 12.96 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of the piece of land that the flower beds were dug in is:

= Length * width

= 5.2 * 4.8

= 24.96 m²

The flower beds were 3 in number and all had the shape of a square.

Their area is:

= 3 * (Length * width)

= 3 * ( 2 * 2)

= 3 * 4

= 12 m² for all three flower beds

Remaining land:

= 24.96 - 12

= 12.96 m²

A rectangular pyramid has a volume of 210 cubic centimeters. Find two possible sets of measurements for the base area and height
MrRa [10]
To find 2 possible sets of dimensions you will use the formula for finding the volume of a prism.

V = 1/3Bh, where B is the area of the base.

210 = 1/3Bh
630 = Bh; this means the area of the B time the height must equal 630

Find 3 factors that will give you 630.

Ex #1:  10 cm (length) x 6 cm (width) x 9 cm (height)

Ex #2: 5 cm (length) x 9 cm(width) x 14 cm(height)
