The constant that can be added to x^2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial is 2\frac{1}{4}

The given expression is

x^2 - 3x

To form a perfect square trinomial

(a-b)^2 =a^2-2ab+b^2

The given expression is

x^2 - 3x

first we have to add a constant term with it

x^2 - 3x + z

By comparing the given expression and the perfect square trinomial

a^2 =x^2

a = x

Similarly

-2ab = 3x

where know a =x

Then,

-2b = 3

b = -3/2

Similarly

b^2 = z

(\frac{-3}{2})^2 = z

9/4 = z

Convert the simple fraction to mixed fraction

9/4 = 2\frac{1}{4}

Hence, the constant that can be added to x^2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial is 2\frac{1}{4}

The complete question is :

Which of the following constants can be added to x2 - 3x to form a perfect square trinomial?

1\frac{1}{2},2\frac{1}{4} and 4\frac{1}{2}

Round 392 to the nearest ten
Bezzdna [24]
Nearest 10 is according to the last digit.
if the digit is >5, it +1 to the tenth digit. If it's <5, it will be reduced to 0.

for your case, 392, 2 < 5, therefore rounded up to nearest tenth is 390.

katrin [286]

Answer: A) 1260

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that the number of combinations of n things taking r at a time is given by :-

^nC_r=\dfrac{n!}{(n-r)!r!}

Given : Total multiple-choice questions  = 9

Total open-ended problems=6

If an examine must answer 6 of the multiple-choice questions and 4 of the open-ended problems ,

No. of ways to answer 6 multiple-choice questions

= ^9C_6=\dfrac{9!}{6!(9-6)!}=\dfrac{9\times8\times7\times6!}{6!3!}=84

No. of ways to answer 4 open-ended problems

= ^6C_4=\dfrac{6!}{4!(6-4)!}=\dfrac{6\times5\times4!}{4!2!}=15

Then by using the Fundamental principal of counting the number of ways can the questions and problems be chosen = No. of ways to answer 6 multiple-choice questions x No. of ways to answer 4 open-ended problems

= 84\times15=1260

Hence, the correct answer is option A) 1260

Ya idk how to do this plz help explain if you can
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

  92 attendees had activity cards

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of students with activity cards. Then 130-x is the number without, and the total revenue is ...

  7x +10(130 -x) = 1024

  7x +1300 -10x = 1024 . . . . eliminate parentheses

  -3x = -276 . . . . . . . . . . . . . collect terms; subtract 1300

  x = 92 . . . . . . divide by 3

92 students with activity cards attended the dance.

_____

<em>Comment on the solution</em>

Often, you will see such a problem solved using two equations. For example, they might be ...

Let 'a' represent the number with an activity card; 'w' the number without. Then ...

  • a+w = 130 . . . . the total number of students
  • 7a +10w = 1024 . . . . the revenue from ticket sales

The problem statement asks for the value of 'a', so you want to eliminate w from these equations. You can do that using substitution. Using the first equation to write an expression for w, you have ...

  w = 130-a

and making the substitution into the second equation gives ...

  7a +10(130 -a) = 1024

This should look a lot like the equation we used above. There, we skipped the extra variable and went straight to the single equation we needed to solve.
