I really, really think it might be C. because they both can, only flat worms live in intestines and and roundworms have a pseudocoelom not a coelom. B also through me off because flat worms are symmetric.

Which chromosomal defect is caused when part of a chromosome breaks off and reattaches backward on the same chromosome?
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

Translocation

Explanation:

Translocation is a chromosomal defect in which part of a chromosome breaks off and reattaches backward on the same chromosome.

Translocation can happen due to many reasons like:

A) Some of the changes that arise around the time of conception or production of sperm or egg.

B) The inheritance of altered chromosome from father or mother.

Translocations can be divided into two forms:

  • Reciprocal translocation
  • Robertsonian translocation.

In reciprocal translocations, fragments of two chromosomes break off from two different places, break and swap each other's segments. While in Robertsonian translocation one chromosome attached with other.

Hope it help!

11. Why
are
organisms with more similar amino acid sequences more closely related?
jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer and Explanation:

Because the DNA sequence determines a protein's amino acid sequence, a gene shared by two closely related organisms should have similar, or even identical, amino acid sequences. That's because closely related species most likely diverged from one another fairly recently in the evolutionary span. Thus, they haven't had as much time to accumulate random mutations in their genetic codes.

A. Review What are the major elements of life?
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

1. The major elements of life are Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Sulfur.

2. Its ability to catenate; its ability to form bonds easily with other elements such as hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen; its ability to form single, double and triple.

3. Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids, and Nucleic acids

4. Carbohydrate provide energy; Proteins serve as structural elements;

Lipids serve as structural components of membranes;

Nucleic acids store and transmit genetic information

5. Proteins are considered polymers while Lipids are not because proteins are composed of monomeric subunits of amino acids whereas lipids do not have monomeric subunits.

Explanation:

1. The major elements of life are Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Sulfur as they are found in many structures of living organisms- in proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids and lipids.

2. Carbon has the ability to form different large and complex structures because:

(I) its ability to catenate which is the ability to combine with one another to form straight, branched chain or ring compounds containing many carbon atoms.

(ii) carbon can form single, double and triple with itself and other life elements.

(iii) the relative stability of the covalent bonds formed by carbon.

3. Four groups of organic compounds found in living things are Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids, and Nucleic acids.

4. Carbohydrate provide energy; Proteins serve as structural elements;

Lipids serve as structural components of membranes;

Nucleic acids store and transmit genetic information

5. Polymers are large molecular weight compounds built up from subunits called monomers.

Proteins are considered polymers because they are large molecular weight molecules composed of monomeric subunits of amino acids.

Lipids are not considered polymers because individually, they are not very large molecules and do not have monomeric subunits rather are composed of long fatty acids chains linked to a glycerol molecule.

Why do people sneeze and cough?

I will give brainly if you explain why.
ki77a [65]

The sneezing is release of air that helps the body to get rid of irritants in our nose and throat, like allergens, dirt, and dust.

Coughing is by forcing the air out of the lungs with high pressure, to clear the throat of these foreign particles.

In eukaryotic cells, the message from the DNA must be removed from the nucleus before it can be read and used to make proteins.
Crank

Answer:

The correct answer is A protein production can occur much faster in prokaryotic cell since the cell does not have to get the message stored in the DNA out of the nucleus.

Explanation:

protein biosynthesis or translation occur in both Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes.

                In prokaryotic cell both transcription and translation occur inside the nucleus but in case of Eukaryotic cell transcription occur in the nucleus whereas translation occur in the cytoplasm.

         In case of eukaryotic cell mRNA processing occurs which involves 5 prime capping, 3 prime tailing and splicing but in case prokaryotic cell no such processing occurs.

                  As a result protein production occur much faster in prokaryotic cell than that of eukaryotic cell.
