Suffragette or feminist--she was an advocate for women's rights but believed it all started with the right to vote.
Suffragettes were women who marched, protested, and spoke for women's right to vote. Susan B. Anthony was one of the early suffragettes with the movement gaining more attention during the early 20th century. The 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote passed in 1920.
The Kansas-Nebraska Act allowed each territory to decide the issue of slavery on the basis of popular sovereignty. Kansas with slavery would violate the Missouri Compromise, which had kept the Union from falling apart for the last thirty-four years. The long-standing compromise would have to be repealed
