The three posts can be given in 4080 ways among 17 students.

It is given that the number of people available to choose the posts from is 17.

There are three posts here- president, vice president, and secretary.

Now, if we choose a candidate for President first, there are 17 students available.

Next, if we select a Vice-President, there are 16 ways to select the vice-president, since one student already is the president.

At, last there are 15 students available to choose the secretary from as two students already hold a post.

Hence, the number of ways to select the President, Vice-President, and Secretary are-

17 X 16 X 15 ways

Therefore we get

4080 ways.

VikaD [51]

1598 cm square is the area of the container.

According to the statement

we have given that the container is rectangular prism

And Length of rectangular prism is 34cm

Width of rectangular prism is 17 cm

Height of rectangular prism is 20 cm

we use the below written formula to find the surface area

Surface area formula A=(wl+hl+hw)

To find the surface area of the container.

Substitute the values of Length, width and height in the formula then

A=(wl+hl+hw)

A=((17)(34)+(20)(34)+(20)(17))

After solving the values

A=(578+680+340)

A= 1598

So, 1598 cm square is the area of the container.

If f(x) = 8 – 10x and g(x) = 5x + 4, what is the value of (fg)(–2)?
Vedmedyk [2.9K]
F(x) = 8 - 10x

g(x) = 5x + 4

Finding (fg)(-2).

First let us find fg(x),  this is the same as f(g(x))

f(g(x))

f(5x + 4)

Recall, f(x) = 8 - 10x, therefore f(5x + 4) would be such that anywhere we see x in the f(x), we replace it with 5x + 4

f(x) = 8 - 10x

f(5x +4) =  8 - 10(5x + 4)

             =  8 - 50x - 40

             = -50x + 8 - 40

             =  -50x - 32

f(g(x)) = fg(x) = -50x - 32

fg(-2) = -50*(-2) - 32 = 100 - 32 = 68

Therefore fg(-2) = 68

I hope this helped.
