The Probability that Robert randomly pulls out a black sock is 1/5  .

In the question ,

it is given that

Total number of socks in sock drawer = 30 socks

number of white socks in the drawer = 16 socks

number of black socks in the drawer = 6 socks

number of red socks in the drawer = 2 socks

number of yellow socks in the drawer = 6 socks

So , the probability that he randomly pulls out a black sock = (number of black socks in the drawer) / ( total number of socks in the drawer )

= 6 / 30

= 1/5

Therefore , The Probability that Robert randomly pulls out a black sock is 1/5  .

lara [203]

Answer:

z=\frac{0.42-0.45}{\sqrt{\frac{0.42(1-0.42)}{100}+\frac{0.45(1-0.45)}{100}}}=-0.428

p_v =2*P(Z

And we can use the following R code to find it: "2*pnorm(-0.428)"

The p value is a very high value and using any significance given \alpha=0.05 always p_v>\alpha so we can conclude that we have enough evidence to FAIL to reject the null hypothesis, and we can say the two proportions are not significantly different.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Data given and notation

X_1 =42 people with some characteristic desired on sample 1

X_2 =45 people with some characteristic desired on sample 2

n_{1}=100 sample selected 1

n_{2}=100 sample selected 2

p_{1}=\frac{42}{100}=0.42 represent the proportion estimated for 1

p_{2}=\frac{45}{100}=0.45 represent the proportion estimated for 2

\alpha=0.05 represent the significance level

z would represent the statistic (variable of interest)

p_v represent the value for the test (variable of interest)

2) Concepts and formulas to use

We need to conduct a hypothesis in order to check if the proportion for the two samples are different , the system of hypothesis would be:

Null hypothesis:p_{1} = p_{2}

Alternative hypothesis:p_{1} \neq p_{2}

We need to apply a z test to compare proportions, and the statistic is given by:

z=\frac{p_{1}-p_{2}}{\sqrt{\frac{p_1 (1-p_1)}{n_{1}}+\frac{p_2 (1-p_2)}{n_{2}}}}   (1)

3) Calculate the statistic

Replacing in formula (1) the values obtained we got this:

z=\frac{0.42-0.45}{\sqrt{\frac{0.42(1-0.42)}{100}+\frac{0.45(1-0.45)}{100}}}=-0.428

4) Statistical decision

We can calculate the p value for this test.

Since is a two tailed test the p value would be:

p_v =2*P(Z

How do you get figure 1 to 2?
Hatshy [7]
Do this on paper, please.
First, rotate the larger rectangle about the origin so that it ends up being a vertically-oriented rectangle in the fourth quadrant (next to the smaller rectangle).  What would you then have to do to this large, vertical rectangle so that it has the same size and shape as does the small vertical triangle?

What is the x-and y-intercept of the graph 4x -5y =40??
umka21 [38]

Answer:

x-intercept = 10

y-intercept = -8

Step-by-step explanation:

4x-5y=40

To identify the y-intercept, we will need to format the equation in the form y=mx+b. We can start by subtracting 4x from both sides of the equation:

-5y=-4x+40

Divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of y, which is -5:

y=\frac{-4}{-5} x - 8

The b is representative of the y-intercept in y=mx+b.

Identify b in the equation y=\frac{-4}{-5} x - 8:

b=-8

Therefore, our y-intercept is -8.

To solve for the x-intercept, replace the y in the equation y=\frac{-4}{-5} x - 8 with a zero:

0=\frac{-4}{-5} x - 8

Add 8 to both sides of the equation:

8=\frac{-4}{-5} x

You can go ahead and divide -4 by -5 to get rid of the fraction:

8=0.8x

Divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of x, which is 0.8:

10=x

Therefore, our x-intercept is 10.
