The shortest length of fabric, in inches, that Kirk could use to make the tablecloth without putting any separate pieces of fabric together is 30 inches

How to solve for the shortest length of fabric required to make the table cloth

Given data

diameter of the table = 3 feet

hang down dimension = 5 inches

sew down dimension = 1 inch

width of rectangular fabric = 60 inches

The question seeks for area of the table cloth, for a circular table area of a circle = pi * r^2

required radius of cloth

= radius of the table + hang down dimension + sew down dimension

= 3 feet / 2 + 5 inches + 1 inch

= 1.5 * 12 inches + 5 inches + 1 inch

= 18 + 5 + 1

= 24 inches

Area of required cloth

= pi * 24^2

= 1809.557 square inches

Area of fabric = Area of required cloth

length * wide = 1809.557 square inches

length * 60 = 1809.557 square inches

length = 1809.557 / 60 square inches

length = 30.159 inches ≈ 30 inches

Therefore option H which is 30 inches is the answer

Which equation could be used to solve this problem? The number of items on two grocery lists differs by 9. The total number of i
serg [7]
X + y = 33
x - y = 9                          Add the 2 equations together
---------------
2x = 42                           Divide both sides by 2
x = 21

Use the original equation and plug 21 in for x, then solve.
x + y = 33
21 + y = 33
Subtract 21 from both sides
y = 12

One list had 21 items on it and the other list had 12 items on it.

What is the value of x?

Enter your answer in the box.

x =
Olin [163]

The arcs in the corners of the triangle mean that all 3 angles are the same.

Because the 3 angles are all the same this means that all 3 sides are also the same.

To solve for X, we can set 2 of the equations to equal each other and solve for x:

6x-3 = 3x +6

Add 3 to each side:

6x = 3x +9

Subtract 3x from each side:

3x = 9

Divide both sides by 3:

x = 9/3

X = 3

And if you replace x with 3 in each of the equations, they all equal 15.

What is the x-intercept of the line with this equation 8x - 1/3y = 15?
Flura [38]

Isolate the x. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. First, add 1/3y to both sides

8x - 1/3y (+1/3y) = 15 (+1/3y)

8x = 15 + 1/3y

Divide 8 from both sides

(8x)/8 = (15 + 1/3y)/8

x = 15/8 + 1/24y

x = 1/24y + 1.875

x = 1/24y + 1.875 is your answer

hope this helps
