And

Thereofore,

The value of y for the equation y = 4x^2 - 2x + 8 at x = -1 is given by

y = 4x^2 - 2x + 8

⇒ y = 4(-1)^2 - 2(-1) + 8

⇒ y = 4 + 2 + 8

⇒ y = 14

Similarly,

The value of y for the equations y = [-2 + 2x]/4 + 4x  at x = 3 is given by

y = {[-2 + 2x]/4} + 4x

⇒ y = {[-2 + 2(3)]/4 } + 4(3)

⇒ y = -2 + 6/4   + 12

⇒ y = 4/4 + 12

⇒ y = 1 + 12

⇒ y = 13
